Transcript:

Hi! I’m Leanna Laskey McGrath, former tech exec turned full time mom, recovering perfectionist and workaholic, and certified executive coach.

For most of my life, I’ve been a high achieving hard working professional, from the early days of my career in higher education to over a decade as an executive at multiple ed tech startups. But in 2019, something changed for me — I had a baby, and my priorities completely shifted. I no longer had 60-80 hours a week to work, and I had a really hard time feeling like I was still bringing value to my company when I didn’t have the capacity to work like I always had.

As an executive mom, I constantly felt like I was failing at everything. It didn’t feel good and though I enjoyed my job and of course loved my baby, I just wasn’t really enjoying my overall life experience. So I decided to take a career pause to focus full time on my daughter. I had worked so hard to build a successful career so it was a huge identity shift for me.

Since leaving the corporate world, I’ve been able to enjoy time with my daughter and I’ve also had some space to step back and understand why my transition to a working mom was so difficult for me. I’ve spent A LOT of time in coaching, therapy, and self reflection. And today, I coach high achieving executive moms, and I’ve learned that to so many women out there are struggling like I did, and I know I can help.

Being a professional woman is hard, being a parent is hard, and my goal with this podcast is to support you in your journey. I’ll share my own story and we’ll discuss topics related to the unique challenges of women in leadership and the unique challenges of working moms, and I’ll be talking amazing guests who also support women and mothers. So whether you’re a leader at work, a leader at home, or both, tune into The Executive Coach for Moms podcast. Because we all deserve more support.
